Bridging Visa E (subclass 050)
A Bridging Visa E (BVE) is usually granted to allow you to remain lawfully in Australia while you are finalising your immigration matter, or whilst you make arrangements to leave Australia. In order to apply for a BVE, you must be an unlawful non-citizen, already the holder of a BVE or the holder of a Bridging Visa D (subclass 041) at the time of applying for this visa.
A BVE does not include any travel rights, and you cannot apply for a BVB to facilitate travel, while on a BVE. If a BVE holder departs Australia, their BVE will cease upon departure. If you would like to return to Australia after you have held a BVE, you will need a substantive visa.
If you are able to work on your BVE, the visa grant letter will clarify this. If you obtain a BVE that does not include work rights, you are able to apply for another BVE in order to obtain working rights, however this will only be granted in specific circumstances, such as financial hardship.
